MP Stephen Kerr hosts Scottish tourism roundtable at Stirling Highland Hotel

On Friday 22nd March the Campaign to Cut Tourism VAT (CTV) held a roundtable at the Stirling Highland Hotel, to discuss the major challenges and opportunities facing the Scottish tourism industry at the moment.

The event, which was hosted by Stirling MP Stephen Kerr, brought together representatives from a range of local Stirling tourism businesses as well as wider Scottish tourism bodies. The participants discussed a series of issues affecting the Scottish tourism industry at the moment, including the transient visitor levy (bed tax), labour shortages and business rates.

The guests also had the opportunity to discuss a potential VAT reduction for the tourism industry. The CTV team updated the guests on the current progress of the campaign before giving a short presentation on the key economic arguments for a reduction in VAT for the tourism industry. A lively discussion followed the presentation with the guests unanimously agreeing that a reduction in VAT would offer a major boost to the Scottish tourism industry.

The Stirling Highland Hotel, who are official supporters of CTV, kindly waived the fee for hire of the meeting room and provided complimentary tea and coffee for the guests.
