All eyes on the Budget as tourism VAT consultation closes

Following the end of the Government’s consultation period on VAT on tourism in Northern Ireland earlier this month, the Campaign to Cut Tourism VAT, and the wider tourism industry, wait to see if a reduction for Northern Ireland will be included in the Chancellor’s Budget in the autumn.

A cut would be a major victory after constructive dialogue with stakeholders and industry representatives in Northern Ireland formed the Campaign’s evidence submitted to the consultation.

Any reduction in VAT on tourism in Northern Ireland would be a step closer to the Campaign’s ultimate objective of a cut across the whole of the UK. The Campaign is continuing to press hard in pursuit of this goal, making the case that a cut in VAT on tourism will provide a transformative boost to UK tourism businesses and the wider economy.
