Cut Tourism VAT discussions lead at Hospitality Day

Reducing Tourism VAT was widely discussed at the British Hospitality Association’s annual Hospitality & Tourism Day on Tuesday 10th October. ‘I need your help to Cut Tourism VAT’, Dermot King, Chairman of the Cut Tourism VAT Campaign, urged industry leaders before they went to Parliament to lobby their MPs.

The Campaign and leading businesses then met in a session led by Sammy Wilson MP and other Northern Ireland MPs to further discuss how to take the opportunity of the Government consultation on Tourism VAT. Tourism was the main focus of Karen Bradley MP, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, in her speech at the reception.

In the face of increasing challenges to the UK hospitality industry, including, sharing economy competitions, diminishing labour supplies and increasing payroll costs, a reduction in tourism VAT was seen as a key structural solution.
