Campaign welcomes DUP support for reduction of tourism VAT

Cross-party support growing

The Cut Tourism VAT Campaign today welcomed the declaration of support by David McIlveen MLA and the Democratic Unionist Party.

Graham Wason, Chairman of Cut Tourism VAT said:

“We welcome support of the DUP for a reduction in Tourism VAT. The sector in Northern Ireland faces a particular challenge as it competes with businesses in the Republic of Ireland who continue to enjoy Tourism VAT less than half the UK rate.”

“I have been encouraged by the growth in support across the political spectrum – which now include representatives of Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat, Green, DUP, SDLP, Alliance, SNP, Plaid Cymru, UKIP and parties. Despite political differences they recognise the great benefits to be won from a reduction in tourism VAT.
